In 1987 the quarry man Walter Danesi founded a private museum to celebrate the hard work of quarrymen. He wanted to enhance the historical and cultural heritage of the mable.
The exhibition welcomes you with a natural-scale marble statue of workmen and oxes by the sculptor Boutros Romein. Here you can see the replica of a typical quarryman house showcasing the work instruments and home utensils of the past. You can learn about the various professions related to the quarry activity such as the tecchiaiolo – the one in charge of preparing the rock wall for the excavation, or the buscaiol, who used to carry out different tasks during the day.
The quarry-museum stop is included into “From the marble mountain to a piece of art” experience.
