We will start our journey from Casale Monferrato, we will visit the church of Santo Stefano, founded in the twelfth century and rebuilt in the mid-seventeenth century, the church dell'Addolorata, one of the jewels of the famous Magnocavalli, dating back to 1723 and finally the baroque church of San Filippo Neri , sublime work of the great Sebastiano Guala.
From the heart of the Christianity of Casale we will move in the area of the ancient Jewish ghetto for a visit to the magnificent Baroque Synagogue, second in Europe for beauty and prestige only to that of Prague, and the attached museum complex Here we will make a journey through the traditions and precious ritual objects of the "People of the Book", with an unmissable final stop at the Museo dei Lumi, which will amaze us with the colorful and original creations of contemporary art. Next stop at the Krumiri Rossi bakery for a private visit to the workshop and a tasting of the famous Casale biscuits, certified kosher food since several years.
On the second day we will go towards the Sacro Monte di Crea, which in the suggestion of the Sanctuary and that of the Devotional Path contains the best of the Piemontese sacred art, from the sixteenth century until the nineteenth century. We will visit the Sanctuary and take a walk in the park, where about thirty small buildings host statues and scenes dedicated to the Mysteries of the Rosary. In the afternoon we’ll visit the Castle of Gabiano, located in a spectacular panoramic position. For long times scenario of sieges and wars, still preserves the curious labyrinth, one of the rarest and still visible in Piedmont, surrounded by the Estate Park, which for over 400 years also includes vineyards. Here we will say goodbye to the Monferrato with a special toast, tasting the best wines of this area.
Our first narrator of the day will be a representative of the Jewish Community of Casale Monferrato, who will share with us many interesting anecdotes about the traditions and uses of the small community of Casale, between past and present. Later we will meet Mrs. Portinaro, owner of a famous confectionery workshop in Casale that every day churns out the delicious krumiri, symbolic biscuits of the city, ready to unveil so many sweet curiosities about this product.
We will discover the beauty of some churches of Casale Monferrato, where some of the greatest artists of the Piemontese Baroque worked. We will visit in private the Jewish Synagogue, one of the most magnificent in Europe, to continue with the jewels preserved in the “Galleria degli Argenti” and the original contemporary creations exhibited in the “Museo dei Lumi”.
We will enter the historic Krumiri Rossi pastry shop to learn about the production method of the famous krumiri, which has also been certified as kosher food. Finally we will go into the meanders of the Sacro Monte di Crea, between sculpted chapels and suggestive landscapes.
